About Stanley Yokell

Stanley Yokell (Stan) is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and a retired Consulting

Engineer with retired registrations in Colorado, New Jersey, Illinois and Iowa. Despite being retired, he consults for selected clients on a case by case basis. He has spent most of his free time on outdoor activities such as:.

                               

He has made nearly 1,000 Scuba dives in the Atlantic off the New Jersey coast, Grand Bahamas Island, Bonaire, Curacao South Caicos Island, Isla de Cozumel, Truk Lagoon, Palau, Ponape, Ras Muhammed, Eilat, The Great Barrier Reef, Bora Bora and other places.

He is a veteran of WWII having served as the Engineering Officer and Executive Officer of U.S.S LST 722 that saw combat in the Pacific theater. He wrote a fictionalized version of his service in his book The Ship which is available from Amazon.com and Xlibris. 

 

He grew up in Brooklyn, lived in Manhattan, several towns in New Jersey and now resides in Boulder, Colorado.

He attended New York University College of Engineering, Columbia University, Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute, General Motors Institute and received the BChe from New York University in 1947.

 

Stanley had two long and successful careers: (1) Founder, Vice-President and President of a major heat exchanger and pressure vessel manufacturing firm and (2) President and principal of a consulting firm specializing in tubular heat transfer equipment and closed feedwater heaters, with specialized knowledge of tube-to-tubesheet joining.

 

He has presented training courses in-house and for public participation on Shell-and-Tube Heat Exchanger-Mechanical Aspects, Tubular Heat Exchangers Inspection, Maintenance & Repair, Closed Feedwater Heaters-Mechanical Aspects, and Tube-to-Tubesheet joints in Canada, Denmark, The Netherlands, the United States, and Venezuela. 

 

Stan has been an avid bicyclist having made a coast-to-coast solo bike,

a trip on a 10-speed bike to celebrate his 59th birthday which he wrote about in his book The Ride.

He has written three technical books, four murder

mysteries, books about old people, dogs, scuba diving, a science fiction novel, and an autobiography.
